***April 2020 Update***
The Palmer M60 engine is almost completely installed. The cockpit seats are being removed to install the fuel tanks and replace some cabin bulkheads.
The decks on the 45' yawl WHIRLWIND are now being refinished. Old caulk reefed out, loose screws replaced, missing bungs replaced, sanded, new caulking and the deck is completely oiled. It should be completely finished by the end of the first week of March 2020.

PILKINGTON was built on the beach in 1900 at Marshside, Southport and named in honour of Sir George Pilkington who was the MP for Southport. Her builder Peter Wright fitted her with an iron keelson and ballast ingots moulded to fit their locations. Registered LL78 in Dec 1900, the Wright's went on to build racing yachts and other craft when the demand for Shrimp declined and the fleet of over 20 boats were gradually sold off or converted to yachts. Fearnought is a beautiful 36ft. (29' 6" LWL) Gaff Cutter designed by Arthur Payne and built of Teak at Luke brothers yard, Hamble in1897. Her hull is of Carvel Teak on oak frames and is almost entirely original. She has a bolted on ballast keel with a with a cut away forefoot.
There is a huge amount of provenance with this boat including original extracts from The Yachting World from 1896/7 detailing her build progress. She was pictured sailing on the November 1998 cover of Classic Boat.
